She is from (fictional) Willows in Wisconsin where she attended High School and is affectionately known as Barbie! She also had a pet horse named Dancer! And she’s allowed kids the world over to live their fantasy!

The first thing I did when I had my own little girl was get her one and last year she saw a little girl crying for hers and said its okay I share Barbie and gave it to her. Barbies real name is Barbara Millicent Roberts. I am glad they shortened it to Barbie as Millicent is one of those names that I struggle with for some reason hahaha. I started playing with Barbies from the get go as I had an older sister with loads of them. I can’t remember when I got my first one but I can remember some specifically.. On my sixth birthday I got an Ariel Barbie.. I remember breaking her shell bra a few days later. We were on holiday and I couldn’t bare her to be “naked” so I wrapped a ribbon around her and made her a custom top. When I was about ten for Christmas I received a gymnast Barbie! Oh my word she was amazing because her knees and arms bent! My sister, cousin and I used to host Miss World pagents with our favourite dolls. We had to have a casual, fancy and swimsuit outfit. My brother even joined in and was the host and decider of who won hahaha!I was obsessed with them. I played Barbies until Std 5 when I went to a new school and everyone laughed at me for still playing Barbies. Jerks. Barbie as a brand is just incredible and I am just so grateful that I have those memories of many happy days with my dolls as I didn’t have too many friends.

My daughter is 6 years old and her very first Barbie was my very first Barbie! I kept it for her for over 20 years and she loves it as much as I did! To say she is obsessed is an understatement. I think Barbie is amazing for making every little girl believe she can be anything she wants to be – while wearing her high heels! It is not so much about looking a certain way..aka the stereotypical Barbie “figure” but more about being kind, loving animals and putting your heart into everything you do – just watch the Barbie movies! They convey such important life lessons to our girls! My Abby would love to win this price!
