Kween B

A Personal Blog For South African Women

Broken To Blessed

Hi

Welcome to my blog & thanks for stopping by.

My name is Sharon and I’ve been blogging since 2008. Over the years my blog has evolved. Starting out as an infertility blogger, documenting my struggle with infertility and recurrent pregnancy loss and then as an adoption blogger and advocate post the placement of my eldest daughter and subsequent placement of our second daughter.

But as I approach my 50’s I find myself pushing back against societies acceptance of the agest stereotype, especially when it comes to women and so Kween B was born.

When I’m not busy at my day job as a sales manager & influencer campaign manager for a large importer of children and baby goods, or trying to juggle and balance being a busy, working mom of two young children, I’ve written a few articles for parenting magazines and been interviewed on radio, television and in print, sharing and talking about my experiences on both the adoption/parenting front and also my transformation on the health and fitness front. You can read, watch and listen to my various interviews here – In The Media.

I’m also a half marathon runner, wine drinker, book reader and a social media addict, you can find me on Instagram, Face Book and Twitter too!

If all else fails, you can also contact me here!

Have you found your groove in the new normal? I Have you found your groove in the new normal? I was thinking about this yesterday? Remember this time a year ago when we were all still sleeping in late and staying up all night watching TVnight? There was so much uncertainty and our lives felt like they had been turned on their heads. Trying to focus on work from our makeshift home offices while the world went mad! But here we are a year later, and I don't know about you guys, but I am so entrenched and comfortable in my new normal that I can never ever go back to the way things were. After the initial shock of lockdown wore off, I started to realize that I had to establish some kind of new routine and now a year later there is one gigantic thing that has changed for me personally, and I'm sure other working mothers too. Remote working has allowed me to be the mother I always wanted to be. I get to work and hustle but I also get to be there for those important moments with my kids. The seemingly mundane school run is such a treat for me. Not having to refuse their extramural requests because I can't afford to pay for two trips from a school transport company, Dr's appointments, etc. I feel like switching to remote working has made the juggle of my work-life-mom-wife balance so much more evened out. I can now be there or everybody, my employer, my husband, my children, but most of all me. Sure I work long hours, but I get to manage that and can schedule that around my personal life and it's been LIFE CHANGING for me. Are you still working remotely? What has been the biggest lesson/change for you in the past year?

3 500 babies SURVIVE abandonment in South Africa e 3 500 babies SURVIVE abandonment in South Africa every year! Let that statistic sink in.... It's heartbreaking! ๐Ÿ’” Thank goodness for NPO's like @themaletsatsifoundation who offer family away from family, a pit stop for vulnerable babies and children in need. But they need our help to keep going and to keep being the safe space for these babies & children to start rebuilding their lives. This is an NPO that I am SO passionate about, so today, I blogged (link in bio) about a couple of easy ways we can all make a difference in a vulnerable baby's life. I mean first off, you can start by purchasing my KweenAger merch that was done in collab with @bmerch_sa, swipe to see the range. The proceeds from the sales of these items are donated to @themaletsatsifoundation Or you can become a virtual volunteer for @themaletsatsifoundation by simply clicking a button. Head over to my blog post to read all the details!
This tweet by @nolwazitusini was like a sucker pun This tweet by @nolwazitusini was like a sucker punch to my gut when I read it this past weekend. It sums up the thoughts that have lived in my head and the fear that has dwelled in my heart from the moment I became a mother. The day after Ava was born, I looked down at her perfection, at the tiny, innocent sleeping form and I knew in that instant, I KNEW, I would lay down my life to save hers. But, in that same instant, I also knew that I would never be able to die in peace because I'd never be able to leave my children behind. I had the same experience with Hannah's birth too. I thought about these words while thinking about @sindivanzyl passing. I thought about these words while I watched a documentary on the holocaust. I thought about these words in relation to women who die at the hands of a partner. I thought about these words in relation to every mother that has ever walked this planet. If we are mothers, do we ever pass in peace?
Prabal Gurung said that nails are the period at th Prabal Gurung said that nails are the period at the end of the sentence. They complete the look. Then I need to add that if that is true and I believe it is, then @nobi_nails is the grammar teacher I simply can't live without! How gorgeous are these soft, creamy nails with brushed chrome accents? If you're in the Randburg area, make sure you get in touch with @nobi_nails and let her work her magic on your nails! Nqobi has been doing my nails for 5 years now and I've never had a bad nail day! She uses rubber base and not only is she a true artist when it comes to nail art, but she's also the only one who can do my nails without it lifting or being less than perfect, EVERY SINGLE TIME!
