I bet the title of this post got your attention! Don’t worry, I’m not about to go off on a self depreciating tangent. What I am going to do though, it tell you about this little book I read over the holidays.

Confessions of an Ugly Girl by Alice Wasser!

Confessions of an Ugly Girl Cover

Millie Glockenfeld will never fall in love.

She will never get engaged. She will never get married. She will never live in a house with a white picket fence and 2.4 children. And all for one very simple reason:

She is ugly.

Fortunately, one thing Millie has learned over the years is that she doesn’t need a man. She’s got a good job, a loyal best friend, and a crazy but lovable cat lady who lives downstairs from her. What more does a girl need in life?

But then one day Millie meets Sam Webber. He is adorably handsome and absolutely perfect (well, almost). And Sam thinks that Millie is beautiful.

Now there’s a chance that Millie might get the happy ending she’s always secretly wanted… if only she can learn to look in the mirror and see what Sam sees.

This is a love story, of the very uncheesy kind. It’s also subtly funny and I found myself having a good giggle throughout the book. No stereotypes to be found here, no sexy alpha males, or skinny perfect heroines. Just two perfectly imperfect people who will meet and fall in love.

Millie hates everything about herself, from her name to her face and body. She is VERY VERY funny and I loved her character. Although, her self hatred became a little annoying at times.

Sam is special and you can’t help but love him, I don’t want to say too much more because I don’t want to give away the story.

But there book is written in a journal form from Millie’s point of view and I really did enjoy it. It was a light hearted and fun easy read.
