fat2fabI’ve had a fairly good LCHF month. Down 3kg’s since the 31st March, until this morning, when I had an unexpected 700g gain. But after reviewing my cycles, I suspect the gain has more to do with my ovulation cycle than actual weight gain, so we’ll see what the scale says tomorrow.

People have really started to notice my weight loss now and this really helps motivate me. Yesterday, while walking through the office someone actually commented that I looked THIN, while she was walking behind me. Now, lets be clear, I’m far from thin, I still have around 30kg’s to lose, but you have no idea how good that comment made me feel. I put it all down to the loss of my back fat… or as Ava calls it my “back boobies”.

I’ve started having a problem with all my pants, even though I’m down a couple of sizes, my pants have all gotten rather long. It’s a nice problem to have and I put it down to my legs slimming down.

I was at the Dr a couple of week’s ago and he took my blood pressure – 72/120, apparently this is really good for a woman in her 40’s and totally flies in the face of what nay sayers about LCHF are saying about a high fat diet increasing BP, mine has actually come down and is now well within normal range.

I’ve also started taking a supplement for my leg cramps which has helped tremendously, although I’ve definitely noticed that my leg cramps are more related to my hydration levels. Even on the days when I’ve taken the supplement, if I don’t drink a lot of water or drink too much wine, I will still get mild cramps during the night. Since noticing this, I’ve made a concerted effort to drink about 12 glasses of water a day and the cramps are totally gone.

Another interesting change I’ve noticed relates to my skin. It seems to be more hydrated and moisturised. For a few years now, right where the ball of my foot ends, on the outside of my feet, I’ve had two deep slashes/cracks on each foot. No amount of foot scrubbing, foot products and regular pedicures could get rid of it. 14 weeks into eating LCHF and guess what? Those cracks are gone! Totally totally gone.

Staying on skin, I now need your recommendations…. I’m looking for a really good firming neck cream, must be cruelty free. I’ve obviously lost a lot of weight in my neck and chin and the skin on my neck is looking a little saggy so your suggestions would be appreciated.

Yesterday I experimented with my own LCHF soup recipe – Creamy Broccoli & Cheddar soup with crispy bacon bits. It was absolutely delicious and a number of people asked for the recipe, I don’t really have one, but here’s what I did:

  • 2x Bags of Woolies broccoli pieces
  • 4x Baby Leaks
  • 5 x Celery sticks
  • 1x Large Onion
  • 4 Cups of stock
  • Salt & black pepper

Boil the ingredients until the veggies are soft and then blend. Add cream until you get the consistency you want and a few handfuls of grated mature cheddar cheese, warm through until the cheese is melted. Add crispy bacon bits before serving. We had ours with a slice of Get Slim’s low carb bread for dinner and it was delicious!
