fat2fabYou guys… it’s been 18 weeks since I joined the challenge…. I’ve stuck to a diet for 18 weeks! In all of my {almost} 42 years on the planet, this has never happened before! I am SO excited!

I cannot tell you what this journey has done for my state of mind, for how I feel about myself, for how my confidence has improved and most importantly, my self belief has begun to soar!

And it’s not just the weight loss, it’s how much my body and it’s workings have changed over the past 4 months, here is a quick summary:

  • No more IBS
  • No more bloating
  • No more stomach cramps
  • No more insomnia
  • No more feet & knee pain
  • No more cracked heals
  • No more dry body skin
  • No more acid bumps on my arms

This lifestyle revolution has really changed my life. I have so much more energy and aside from feeling fantastic, I know I’m looking good to. Don’t get me wrong, I still have a 20kg weight loss journey ahead of me, but in less than 5 months I am halfway to my goal. By the end of this, I will have lost 40kg’s!

There are so many simple things that I’m sure others take fore granted, that I have begun to enjoy again, not being over the weight limit for jump on my child’s trampoline for one, shopping in regular clothing stores, no more plus size clothing for me, I’m now fitting into a 38 pants!

Of course, what gives me the biggest kick is having my friends and family gasp and comment in surprise each time they see us. I mean, we went from that:

This photo was taken at a 40th birthday party on Saturday night, where I learned a hard lesson about LCHF fasting and wine drinking. It’s clearly not a great idea to fast all day, then eat a very light supper and proceed to drink 4 glasses of wine, it will result in you getting rather tipsy, unable to sleep because of a pounding headache and then bent over the toilet bowl the following morning! NEVER again!

I took my measurements this morning, I’ve not been very good with this, the last time (and only time) I’ve taken my measurements was on the 16th February, a month into the challenge already. From then till today, I’ve lost 41.5 cm, no surprises the largest lost has come off my boobs… really, I have almost no boobs as it is. Followed by my thighs, but I’m pretty sure that’s due to the running and then my waist.

I know a lot of people have commented that LCHF is expensive and yes it is. BUT I will say this, while there has been an increase in my weekly grocery bills, we are not spending the +- R1000 a month we previously spent on buying work lunches and take away’s. We eat NO fast food, none what so ever and when I take that into account, I’m really not spending more on food than what I was prior to starting LCHF.

I’m doing another Parkrun this weekend! Can you believe it? Walter is still quite gobsmacked! He says he’s seriously impressed and surprised that I went from “party girl” to “running girl”. But 5 days a week, I hit the tar and pound the pavement. I’m not very good and I still can’t run for longer than like 2 minutes at a stretch but I’m doing something and in my books that’s good enough!

Currently in the #fat2fab challenge, Walter and I are placed 1st and 2nd. I am so exceedingly proud of us!
