Who remembers the sunscreen song? Or am I really showing off my age now? That song has always stuck with me: if I could offer you one piece of advice, wear sunscreen. You see, my dad has pre-malignant skin cancer. so wearing sunscreen has been part of my daily routine for as long as I can remember. His dermatologist’s mantra is fry now & pay later.
Finding the right sunscreen
It’s not particularly hard, pretty much anything is better than nothing, but I have really struggled to find a sunscreen that is not just great for days on the beach or at the pool, but also great for daily use under my makeup and over my day cream. Something not to heavy or oily. And I think I finally found it!
Solal SPF 30 Hydra Technology Enhanced
Solal’s SPF 30 is a broad-spectrum (UVA + UVB) sun protection facial cream suitable for all skin types but it is NOT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN. It is silky to the touch and leaves a matt appearance, the ideal base-layer for make-up application, I really like it’s liked its light formulation, which is so unlike traditional sun creams.
It’s Anti-Aging too!
There has been a lot of research into the harmful and aging effects of UV exposure but more recently, studies have also found the negative effects of HEV blue/violet light (400-500nm), may be as harmful as the damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS) created from UVA + UVB combined, most especially on aging.
Some of the benefits of Solal SPF 30 Hydra Technology Enhanced are:
- Antioxidant action
- Suitable for all skin types (but not children)
- Silky to the touch
- Matt finish
- Prepares the skin for makeup application
