Every once in a while, I read a book that I love but don’t know how to rate, Sweet Nothing by Jamie McGuire & Teresa Mummert is exactly that kind of book!

The synopsis gives little away & is very vague, but I have always enjoyed Jamie McGuire’s writing so I decided to give the book a ready anyway.

Sweet-Nothing-Cover-1When you think you know what’s happening, you’re only half way there.

It is enough to break any man: watching what could have been my future slip away before it was ever in my grasp. The possibility of losing someone I loved, before she was even mine, is something I never would have imagined. Certainly nothing I’d ever wish on anyone. I go to her every day and wait. Wait for the impossible, for a sign, for her to look at me … hoping sinners are granted miracles, too.

Just one glimpse of him was all it took. In the next lane, at a stop light, was the man I would fall in love with and marry. People talk about the kind of love that takes time–love you fall in to. We were more like a crash and burn, and when our lives intertwined I would never be the same. He was the man I would cherish the rest of my life, who would father my children. In an instant our life together began, and in an instant it would end. The late nights; the excuses; the lies. And in the blink of an eye, it was like we never were.

For the first time, experience a heartfelt, jaw-dropping novel by #1 New York Times bestseller Jamie McGuire, and New York Times bestselling author Teresa Mummert.

I enjoyed the book but kept wondering where the story was going, it felt like it was building to something but I was totally unsure of what. Then about 20% before the end there was a:

“Holy shit! What just happened???!!!”  moment???!!!

Similar to what I experienced when I read Rainfall!

I DID NOT see that coming! I knew the story was building up to something… but THAT? I’m still not even sure what THAT was???? What did I just read? How? What?

I finished the book two days ago, but I’m still trying to wrap my head around it and make sense of it all.

So how do you rate a book that you loved, but left you so completely confused?

Did I enjoy the book? Hell yes!

Would I recommend the book? Hell yes, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the twist at the end that still has me scratching my head and trying to figure out what the hell just happened?
