I’m all about girl power. About empowering my daughters so that they grow up knowing that being “sugar & spice & everything nice” also means that they can be strong and independent and feisty and everything in between!

While I grew up watching Willie-Willie-Wallie, girls growing up in the 1990’s got to watch empowering shows like The Powerpuff Girls!

Powerpuff Girls

I kind of fancy myself as Blossom! What do you think?

The original series, first premiered on television screens in 1998 and it was not long before it was awarded two Emmyยฎ Awards, along with five nominations and countless animation honors throughout its 78-episode run.
In 2003, a feature film was created for โ€œThe Powerpuff Girls: Dance Pantsedโ€, which attracted world famous talent, such as Ringo Starr, proving the global impact that The Powerpuff Girls have on the animation universe. The Powerpuff Girls are a phenomenon even among my own friends, I even have a friend who has PowerPuff Girl tattoo’s, that’s how much their fierceness means to her!
Fast-forward to April 2016, an all-new, reimagined animated series of The Powerpuff Girls will be launched worldwide.

Launching on Saturday, 30 April in Africa, the all-new series will feature new voice talent, namely Amanda Leighton as Blossom, Kristen Li as Bubbles, and Natalie Palamides as Buttercup.
As part of the launch across Africa, Cartoon Network has partnered with the dynamic jazz-electro-hip-pop phenom Toya Delazy to represent the Powerpuff Girls on the African continent. Producing a colourful, local interpretation of the new Powerpuff Girls theme song, Toya has added a bit of rock, hop and sweet undertones with a hard yet playful beat to the local opening title of the show.

Here is what Toya had to say about why SHE loves and identifies with The Powerpuff Girls:
