The Pantone colour for 2018 is Ultra Violet and it’s absolutely gorgeous!

So I was super stoked when I received a press pack from the PR’s for Dischem, inviting me to create a look using the colours for this year.

Shades of purple are fantastic on just about everyone. Eyeshadows especially have a way of making light eyes pop and dark eyes look even warmer.

So last weekend, I spent a bit of time playing with all the colours and trying out what I received.

Here are my thoughts:

What I loved:

I absolutely loved the L.A. Girl Eye Lux Mesmerizing Eyeshadow in Glamorize. The colours are stunning, well pigmented and applied and blended easily. At only R129,95, it’s a really great price for a quality eyeshadow palette.

The L.A. Girl Beauty Brick Eyeshadow Collection in Ultra is also an absolute winner at R99,95. I love the Beauty Bricks if I’m having a hard time committing. The eyeshadow palette contains small amounts of eyeshadow, so you’re not stuck with them for years on end if you’re really not sure. Read the rest of this post to find out how you can win this palette!

Like with all the L.A. Girl powders, colours and palettes, L.A. Girl Eye Lux Mesmerizing Eyeshadow in Glamorize is just gorgeous to use. It applies evenly and doesn’t give you an over the top splotch of colour on your cheeks. It’s also an absolute barbain at R109,95.

I’ve been a fan of Palladio makeup forever since I discovered it in Dischem years ago. I’ve used and enjoyed almost everything from their range. But one of my favorite products is their Obre lipsticks.

For the Pantone look, I used the Palladio Ombre 2 in 1 Lip Colour in Mix & Mingle. It’s GORGEOUS! I love the creamy consistency, it’s long wearing and it doesn’t dry your lips out, unlike some of the other lipsticks I’ve tried. I also love that you can play with the look and mix of the colours to create either brighter or darker and bolder lip looks. It’s also a great price at R89,95.

It saddens me to say this, but I am not a fan of the Palladio Velvet Matte Cream Lip Colours, the one I got to try for this look was Damask. It’s R109,95, so a really great price and the colours are fantastic, but I do find, this lipstick specifically has a high transfer rate. So if you swipe a finger across your lips or blow your nose, you have a strong possibility of wearing the lipstick in other places on your face and not your lips.

It still a great product, but you do need to be careful when wearing it.

Now for the products I didn’t love!

I hate dry lipsticks. Hate them. But I love Matte Finish lipsticks…. go figure. For this Pantone look, I got to try out the L.A. Girl Matte Flat Finish Pigment Gloss in Black Current and Stunner. The colours are GORGEOUS! I especially loved Stunner!

But I was SO disappointed with how these wore. They apply quite tacky and sticky and they feel very dry on your lips. But most disappointing of all is one sip of water or something small to eat and the colour literally flakes and peels off your lips. I landed up cleaning it off because I didn’t enjoy the texture, which is SO disappoitning because I just adore this colour!

I did receive two products that I’d like to gift to one reader! I already have the L.A. Girl Beauty Brick in Ultra, so I’d like to gift it to one of you, along with an Ice Box nail varnish in Viola Ice. These polishes are available exclusively at selected salons and retail for R120.
