There was a time when the classic Barbie toy was all about being blonde, tall and thin and her only real aspirations in life were to be fashionable and chase after Ken. But Barbie, who has been around for more than 50 years, is about so much more than fashion these days.

Barbie is progressive.

She comes in all shapes and colours these days and she’s all about teaching little girls (and boys) that they can be whoever they want to be!

I love that Barbie now comes in icons that my girls can identity with!

Introducing Barbie & The Animal Rescue

I love the concept of this play set. It also means that both my girls can now play Barbie. Hannah who is typically girly girl and Ava who is animal crazy love this new play set, which is available at leading toy stores and online for R600.

Barbie loves animals and she loves to rescue and care for them.

There are eight animal patients to care for: a fox, a deer, two squirrels, two bunnies and two owls.

The two-level care station is connected to a tree by a rope bridge that works with the animal-carrying basket
The tree features lots of places for the smaller animals to rest, like the nest atop the leaves, trunk cubby holes and a platform among the branches. Barbie animal doctor doll’s care station has fun elements like a thatch roof with Barbie logo on top, cool colors and decals and an animal bed below.

Now, Barbie mad kids and animal crazy kids can play together, rescuing, nurturing and caring for the animals and opening up a whole new world of imagination play.

Christmas is around the corner!

And I think this would make a fantastic gift for any child.

There’s a little something for two lucky readers too!
