Anyone who has been reading my blog for any period of time over the last 4 years will know that I am a sucker for a cause, it’s how I was raised, it was something my Dad always taught us, you support charity, you give where you can without expectation of getting anything in return. From my own life experience, I have learned that I get so much more when I give, that the pleasure, for me, is truly in giving and less in the receiving. I always support charity, where and how I can and I love giving gifts, which have been meticulously chosen and wrapped with so much love and care. It’s who I am, it’s been instilled in me from early on in my childhood.
Now as an adult, I’m always on the look out for charities to support or for causes that speak to my heart and I have such respect for companies who have social responsibly projects, I will always choose one brand over another if I know about their charitable works.
So you can imagine how thrilled I was when I learned about Naartjie’s social responsibility project called The Naartjie Love Foundation.
The Naartjie Love Foundation was established in April 2011 and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of all children in disadvantaged communities throughout South Africa.
The Foundation’s primary mission is to bring lasting and positive change to these children with the emphasis on both their primary needs, including their absolute safety, and on their education and loving care.
Funds are raised through the sale of specially designed and produced Naartjie Kids items through all Naartjie Kids retail outlets. Fifty percent of the profits from all foundation initiatives are used towards the furtherance of the objectives of the foundation.
Over the past year the Foundation has seen a children’s home completely renovated and furnished, many children clothed and fed, an entire community’s babies blanketed, homes re-painted, gardens created and so much more.
There are currently two products that Naartjie are using to support the Love Foundation, the just launched adorable key rings, which retail for R39.95 each and 50% of their revenue goes to a child in need. Even better, if you buy all 4 key rings, you will be entered into a lucky draw to win a R2 000 Naartjie Kids shopping voucher. I definitely need to buy that cute little birdie key ring.
And of course, the beautiful Naartjie quilts, which are lovingly created and put together by Heartworks, a Capetonian organisation set up to assist local crafters hone their skills as well as to provide a successful distribution channel to bring their products to the world.
And keeping in the spirit of giving, Naatjie have given me something to give to you! All you need do is like the Naartjie Face Book page and/or follow them on Twitter, and if you’ve done that already, share this post on Face Book or Twitter and leave a comment letting me know and you’ll go into the draw to win a Naartjie quilt of your choice and 4 runners up will each win a Naartjie key ring! Winners will be drawn using random.org on Friday, 28th September!
Also don’t forget to check out the awesome current promotions that Naarjtie are running.
