If the eyes are the windows to the soul, then a good quality mascara is probably the number one must have in every girls beauty arsenal.
Make those eyes pop!
Mascara is definitely my number one must have in my makeup regime. I am fair skinned and I have very light eyelashes. My eyes are probably my favourite feature and I enjoy playing with makeup techniques that makes them stand out.
I also wear contact lenses so I need to be careful what mascara I use because my eyes can get blurry, dry and sensitive during the day.
These are my four current favourites:
For volume, I have two go too favourites:
Catrice Better Than False Lashes Volume Mascara
I love this mascara, it definitely lives up to it’s promise of offering dramatic volume, sensational length and extreme curl. It’s also not an overly wet mascara so it applies quite easily. The brush is quite fat through, so if you have short lashes, you my get a bit of transfer on your eyelids during application.
I bought this one for under R100 at Dischem.
Xtreme Lashes Length & Volume Mascara
This is most probably my most expensive mascara. Featuring a large, lash-maximising brush that thickens each lash from base to tip – extreme length and volume is achieved. This colour-rich formula creates high-impact definition, volume, and separation without any clumps, flakes, or smudges. This mascara is also formulated to be safe to use on eyelash extensions. I especially love the brush on this mascara, it really does apply evenly and without clumping.
I got mine for R410 from The Beautiful Store.
Let’s talk lengthening mascaras.
I have two favourites here. And it’s a tough choice as to which one is my best. But I love how both these mascaras give extra length to my lashes.
Catrice Glam & Doll False Lashes Mascara
The brush on this mascara wins hands down for me. It’s more of a comb than a brush. So it’s really effective in separating the lashes while applying. It also has a great lengthening effect and added bonus, it’s vegan friendly for all you vegan’s out there.
It’s other big winning feature for me is the price, I got mine at Dischem for R79!
BIONIKE DEFENCE COLOUR LENGTHENING MASCARA
Another mascara with a FANTASTIC brush. I love this one! Lashes naturally look longer and curled, perfectly defined, giving seducing eyes. It is my favourite go to mascara when I’m going for a nude, natural look.
This one is also especially forumalted and ophthalmologically so it’s ideal for anyone with sensitive eyes and it’s designed for contact lens wearers.
Bionike cosmetics are also all Nickel, chromium, cobalt-TestedPreservative-freeGluten-freeFragrance-free
I got mine at Dischem for R155!
Have you tried any of these mascaras?

I’m not sure which one it is that I’m using, but I love it, it is extra black.

I like the Catrice, better than false lashes best on you, it gives the most detail ( um volume?) compared to the rest. The rest are a little clumpy. My favorite Mascara has always been DIOR it separates and lengthens but sadly my eyes are more sensitive as I age and so I have to go with one that is less legnthening although my new trick is to use the sensitive eyes one close to my eyes and another one on the tips for lengthening.

Thank you for mentioning The Beautiful Store and our Xtreme mascara – I know it is more pricey but for anyone with sensitive eyes that’s still wants a smudge proof volumising mascara, it is fabulous. I will try the rest of your suggestions too so thank you!
