About Fired Earth’s Cabinet & Furniture Paint

I first used this product when we redecorated our bedroom a couple of years ago, and both my husband and I were blown away with how easy the product was to use (we are both DIY challenged) and how durable and long-lasting it has been, it’s now been two years since that makeover and the paintwork and refurbished furniture still looks as good as new.

Before

My living room, which is a combined TV and dining room, was looking very tired and dated. The heavy dark furniture so popular in the early 2000’s made the room look dark and of course, having been parents to little kids over the past 10 years, our furniture has been put through the wringer. YOu know what they say,  you can’t have nice things when you have kids or dogs. Well, we have both and our furniture looked tired.

After

We repainted all the woodwork – dining room table, the red wall unit, coffee table, and TV unit using Fired Earth’s Cabinet & Furniture paint in the color Lite Latte and then I spent a little bit of money on soft furnishings to take the room from dark, brooding red and blue, to light, bright yellow and denim.

I’m so chuffed with the results:

It’s quite incredible what a difference painting the dark wood made. It literally lifted the colour and light in our living room and made is so lovely, bright, light and inviting while still being practical with kids and dogs.

Fired Earth’s Cabinet & Furniture paint is available from Builders Warehouse, Marko and Game.

Special Decor Items

Just because I got a million questions on Instagram while I was busy sharing this makeover, I thought I’d share some interesting independent decor suppliers I found.

Set of 3 mirrors were a total of R600 from Mimi in Kempton Park – 071 760 0032

Binga/Tonga Baskets – Vusi, who I found on Facebook Market Place has THE best pricing on these wall-mounted baskets. He is based in Randburg and came to me house to show me his full selection. He buys and exports for overseas clients but his pricing is brilliant – 078 068 1068

The throws are all from Mr P Home. My budget does not allow for new couches right now, but my couches are in a sad state of affairs thanks to kids and dogs, but clearly placed throw and blankets made them look as good as new.

The scatter cushions and rug are from Builders Warehouse.
